Lukas Kahlen is climate policy analyst at NewClimate Institute. He joined the team in January 2018 and works on low carbon development and the analysis and evaluation of climate change mitigation actions in developing countries. He has a focus on climate and development and is engaged in developing sector specific low-emission economic growth strategies as well as approaches to integrate climate objectives into national development goals.

Prior to joining NewClimate Institute, Lukas worked for more than five years as a Consultant at MicroEnergy International, Berlin Germany, supporting financial institutions internationally in various stages of the implementation of green energy loan programs. To date, he has been managing projects in Latin America, East Africa and South-East Asia.

Previously to his employment at MicroEnergy International Lukas worked, among others, in an environmental consulting company (Adelphi GmbH, Germany) and for the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

Lukas holds a B.A. in Economics and Regional Studies Iberoamerica from the University of Duisburg-Essen and a Master`s Degree in International and Development Economics from the University of Applied Science, Berlin.
