Prof. Dr. Niklas Höhne is an internationally renowned expert in climate policy with over 20 years of experience, participating in the international climate negotiations since 1995. He co-founded NewClimate Institute, where he oversees analysis on national and international climate policy and assumes various management roles. He also holds a professorship “mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions” at Wageningen University. He led and co-authored over 300 studies related to international and national climate policies, including three publications in Nature, contributions to the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Assessment Reports of the IPCC since 2003 and all UNEP Emissions Gap Reports since 2010. He created the Climate Action Tracker that tracks commitments and actions of countries on climate change. He has advised many governments and organisations and participated as an expert in hearings of the European and German parliament. Prior to co-founding NewClimate Institute, Niklas worked at Ecofys, a climate and energy consultancy (2001 to 2014), and the UNFCCC secretariat (1998 to 2001).
