Judit Hecke works primarily on sustainable development and climate action, with a strong focus on aligning climate policy with development priorities. Her main area of expertise lies in the energy transition, with a regional focus on Southeast Asia – particularly the Philippines. She also serves as a long-standing country lead for the Climate Action Tracker, where she quantifies countries’ policies and projects GHG emission trajectories. Previously, Judit managed and contributed to sectoral analysis projects assessing the transformations needed to achieve the Paris Agreement, with a particular emphasis on the power and transport sectors. Before joining NewClimate Institute, Judit specialised in ocean energy at the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and worked as a research assistant at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. She holds a BSc in Energy Systems Engineering from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and an MSc in Energy, Society and Sustainability from the University of Edinburgh.
