The Ambition to Action (A2A) project is funded under the German International Climate Initiative (IKI).
Through this project, the A2A team supports Argentina, Indonesia, and Kenya (during the first phase also Thailand) with the implementation of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC). The project applies a benefits-based approach in order to develop credible narratives to enable emission reductions and increased ambition at the sector level. The focus lies on the quantification of economic, social and environmental benefits associated with different (ambitious) sector pathways, responding to the specific sector dynamics and interest of different sector stakeholders in the partner country. Based on the experience in the partner countries, a methodology and guide are being developed to enable replication of the approach in other countries.
The A2A project is part of the NDC Cluster which combines and coordinates different NDC support activities funded by the German government. As part of the Cluster, the project produces regular Update Reports on progress with NDC implementation discussing key issues, opportunities and lessons learned. Research papers on NDC related topics are also published. In addition, the project partners lead work on sector-based approaches distilling experiences and insights from sector level implementation of NDCs for the NDC Cluster and respective partner countries.
