COP Side event Article 6

The needs and visions of communities must be the centre of climate action. With the new Article 6.4 Crediting Mechanism featuring in many NDCs, communities face the challenge of dealing with an increasing number of carbon initiatives. The event examined needed safeguards and alternatives.

The event featured community representatives from different continents (Africa, Asia, South America) who lay out how their communities handle carbon market initiatives in their territories and the way forward envisaged. Followed by an open discussion, exploring links to the Global Ethical Stocktake.
