Climate Action Tracker news: Country updates briefing published plus comprehensive homepage relaunch

The Climate Action Tracker has released an update on 23 of the 32 countries whose development on climate action tracked is released. Also, as part of the respective project team, NewClimate Institute is proud to announce the relaunch of the homepage for the Climate Action Tracker.

Paris Tango. Climate action so far in 2018: individual countries step forward, others backward, risking stranded coal assets
The Climate Action Tracker has updated our assessments of 23 of the 32 countries whose development on climate action we track. While some progress has been made since November, most governments’ policies are still not on track towards meeting their Paris Agreement commitments, many of which are in themselves far from sufficient to keep warming to the agreed 1.5˚C warming limit. Our assessments point to an urgent need for governments to scale up both their policies and targets to bring them more in line with a pathway to limiting warming to 1.5˚C.

The CAT team is both happy and proud to announce our brand new website! The website is a culmination on many months of work so we hope you enjoy the new design and find it much easier to navigate and use. Without meaning to brag, we are particularly happy with:

  • The modern and responsive design (yes, now mobile phone friendly!)
  • The interactive map and rating system
  • The interactive country graphs with data download options

You can read about how to use these new features here and here. We will also remind you of our Data Portal where you can explore all our up to date data on decarbonisation trends covering 41 indicators and 32 countries!
