The energy transition depends not only on ambitious targets but also on coordinated, transparent implementation. To support this, we have developed the Power Policy Tracker under the Clean, Affordable and Secure Energy for Southeast Asia (CASE) project, together with SIPET. The new tool helps assess and compare the status of energy and power policy implementation across ASEAN member states.
Designed for policymakers, researchers, and energy professionals, the Power Policy Tracker offers a comparative overview of selected policy areas relevant to the energy transition.
The tool enables users to explore the level of ambition across countries and track progress in three core areas:
- Renewable Electricity Targets: Renewable electricity targets provide confidence to investors and signal governments’ intent to scale up renewable energy.
- Grid Development Plans: Integrating high shares of variable renewable energy into national grids requires modernised grid planning and infrastructure. The tracker presents a regional map showing which countries have published or updated their grid development plans, and to what extent these plans account for renewable integration.
-
Electric Vehicle Targets: The shift toward electric mobility supports both transport sector decarbonisation and cleaner air. This section details sales targets for electric vehicles, including cars and two-wheelers, helping users understand where electric mobility is gaining policy support across Southeast Asia.
