NewClimate Institute partnered with Germanwatch to develop a Climate and Energy Monitor for Allianz Climate Solutions. The monitor ranks the G20 member countries according to their relative fitness to close the financing gap in low carbon, climate resilient energy infrastructure. The ranking was developed on two pillars- investment attractiveness and investment needs; assessing each country’s investment attractiveness as potential investment destination for building low carbon energy infrastructure, judged against its current and future investment needs for climate resilient energy infrastructure. In doing so, the monitor engages with both the mitigation and resilience dimensions of the energy infrastructure, providing an indication of the investment potential in and the vulnerability of the energy sector (supply side) in the assessed countries.
