Recent evidence shows that halting the current acceleration of environmental degradation requires not only the mitigation of GHG emissions but also the restoration and enhancement of biospheric resilience. Strengthened action could significantly enable the resilience of natural and managed ecosystems, while promoting synergies of Rio Conventions and other international agreements. 

Moving beyond nature-based solutions, efficient policies would involve a broader transition to agroecological techniques, enhanced conservation measures, the use of traditional knowledge and other forms of proactive biodiversity management. Noting the focus of COP30 on the biosphere in the context of ambitious climate policies, results from the Sino-German Track-II-Dialogue was presented. The session brought together scientists and policymakers from China, Germany and beyond to highlight case studies and new perspectives.
