NewClimate Institute supported the development of a NAMA for the Tunisian Solar Plan (PST). The project was conducted under the leadership of the Tunisian company ALCOR on behalf of UNDP, funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
The objective of the Plan Solaire was to transform the electricity sector to achieve a 30% share of electricity generated from renewable sources by 2030, with a focus on wind and solar technologies. The project developed a NAMA framework to establish enabling conditions through a mix of policy and de-risking instruments, aimed at attracting investment into the sector with the support of international climate finance. Implemented in the context of Tunisia’s Nationally Determined Contribution, the project contributed significantly to national climate and sustainable development goals.
NewClimate Institute’s involvement focused on applying the team’s international expertise in NAMA design, renewable energy policies, climate finance, and MRV.
