NewClimate Institute is supporting the development of a NAMA for the Tunisian Solar Plan (PST). The project is conducted under the leadership of the Tunisian company ALCOR on behalf of UNDP funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
The objective of the Plan Solaire is to achieve a transformation of the electricity sector to reach a share of electricity generated from renewable sources of 30% by 2030 focussing in particular on wind and solar technologies. The project will develop a NAMA framework to create enabling conditions through a combination of policy and derisiking instruments to enable investments into the sector facilitated by international climate finance. The project is implemented in the context of Tunisia’s Nationally Determined Contribution and is expected to contribute significantly to the achievement of national climate and sustainable development goals.
NewClimate’s involvement focusses in particular on bringing in the team’s international expertise on NAMA design, renewable energy policies, climate finance and MRV.
