This project supported NDC implementation in partner countries (Brazil, Germany/ EU, India, Indonesia, and South Africa) through research-based policy advice and capacity development. It analysed the design of policy and financial instruments and their ability to mobilise private- and public-sector climate-friendly investments. Other areas of research included the role of international partners in supporting climate policy processes in emerging markets, the role of technical assistance in transforming the finance sector, and the role of the GST in strengthening national action and international cooperation.

Issues of national relevance were examined in annual, country-specific studies that focused on various NDC policy areas, supplemented by a cross-sectoral study. Workshops, publications, and webinars were used to ensure that insights gained were transferred to the policymaking process.

The project was part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI) supported by the German government. NewClimate supported the project as an implementation partner. The project began in July 2019.

The SNAPFI project website lists publications from all consortium partners.
