NewClimate Institute was supported by GIZ to conduct research on the experiences from the INDC preparation process, and the impacts and implications of the process for national climate policy making and the international climate negotiation process. The project built upon previous work on the experiences and lessons learned in the preparation of INDCs. Representatives from 52 developing countries were consulted on the ways in which the INDC process enhanced and accelerated in-country climate change policy processes beyond the contribution itself, on the challenges faced in the preparation process, and on the next steps and support requirements after Paris. The results and implications of the research were presented in a series of short briefing papers.
