In this project funded by the GIZ, NewClimate Institute supported Vietnam and a team of national consultants with the preparation of the INDC for the waste and agriculture sectors. Back-stopping support was provided for the determination of BAU scenarios, calculation of mitigation potentials and costs, the identification of co-benefits, the selection of prioritised mitigation options based on selected criteria and proposed appropriate sectoral sub-targets. The assessment took account of the technology, financial (national and international) and capacity building needs for the mitigation options. Based on this and an assessment of existing policies, suggestions were made on how these can be modified/ developed further to achieve identified mitigation targets.
