This side event, organised by the Ministry of Environment, Moldova in cooperation with the Energy Community Secretariat and the German Development Cooperation (GIZ), brought the voices of different stakeholders shedding light on the importance of including just transition aspects in NDCs and other strategic documents, in line with the Paris Agreement, in order to showcase how such integration of concepts can catalyze climate ambition. Anchoring coal-phase out and planning of a sustained change in the energy systems in key documents, facilitates access to additional financing and increases the success of implementation.

Speakers shared their experience on integrating just transition in their NDCs and other strategic documents, describing the challenges and opportunities. The event also followed the dynamics of the Just Transition Work Program under the UNFCCC and the outcome of the Global Stocktake from COP28, highlighting the importance of just transition in energy systems.
