Rory Geary focuses on the links between climate policy and development, as well as the evaluation of national energy policies. He has a keen interest in understanding the impacts and effectiveness of energy transition policies. Prior to joining NewClimate Institute, Rory worked for several years in the Irish public sector. He conducted analysis on employment and social policies for the Ministry of Social Protection with the Irish Government Economics & Evaluation Service. Subsequently, he contributed to impact evaluations of national energy policies with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland. Rory also has experience in project management roles within a multinational consultancy. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Energy Engineering from University College Cork and an MSc in Socio-Ecological Economics from the Vienna University of Economics.
