Marie-Jeanne Kurdziel joined NewClimate Institute in May 2015 as a Climate Policy Analyst. Her work centres on the intersection of climate change and development, supporting the advancement and implementation of national contributions (NDCs), mitigation actions, and low-carbon development strategies, with a focus on sustainable energy policies. She combines analytical expertise with solid experience in working closely with different country governments and non-state actors on the ground.
Prior to joining NewClimate Institute, Marie-Jeanne worked for the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), supporting the administration and implementation of the International Climate Initiative (IKI). For her Master’s thesis on allocation mechanisms of international climate finance, she joined the GIZ Energy-Programme in Brazil. Throughout her studies, she has lived, worked and studied in various countries, including Brazil, India, Argentina, France and Ecuador. Marie-Jeanne holds a BA in Politics and Management from the University of Konstanz and a MA in International Relations from the Free University of Berlin, Humboldt-University Berlin and University of Potsdam.
