Marie-Jeanne Kurdziel is climate policy analyst at NewClimate Institute. She joined the team in May 2015 and works on low carbon development and the analysis and evaluation of climate change mitigation actions. She has a focus on the development of carbon markets and (new) market-based instruments as well as on climate finance mechanisms.
Prior to joining NewClimate Institute, Marie-Jeanne worked for the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), supporting the administration and implementation of the International Climate Initiative (ICI). For her Master’s thesis on the allocation mechanisms of international climate finance, she spent eight months in the GIZ Energy-Programme in Brazil. Throughout her studies, she has lived, worked and studied in various countries, including India, Argentina, France and Ecuador. Marie-Jeanne holds a B.A. in Politics and Management from the University of Konstanz and a M.A. in International Relations from the Free University of Berlin, Humboldt-University Berlin and University of Potsdam.
