Katharina joined NewClimate Institute in 2016 as climate policy analyst working on climate finance and non-state action. She has close to 10 years’ experience working with financial institutions, corporate and public entities on climate and broader sustainability issues. Prior to joining NewClimate she led the property investing work stream at the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Institute (UNEP FI). This included for example the development of guidance to enable property investors and professionals to systematically apply and integrate ESG criteria into investment and lending decisions. Before that, Katharina managed CDP´s work with financial institutions and companies regarding the disclosure and use of climate change related data in Southern Europe and worked with the Permanent Mission of Vanuatu in New York to raise awareness for the country’s climate change related challenges.

She holds a M.A. in international studies from Laval University, Canada, and a B.Sc. in economics and social sciences from the Free University of Bolzano, Italy. Katharina recently completed a course to become a Certified Expert in Climate and Renewable Energy Finance at the Frankfurt School UNEP Collaborating Centre for Climate and Sustainable Energy Finance.
