Julie Emmrich is a climate policy analyst at NewClimate Institute, focusing on the alignment of finance to the goals of the Paris Agreement, development-oriented policies and policy analysis to foster sectoral transitions. Her current research includes analysing the links between climate action with sustainable development goals, or “co-benefits”, developing finance criteria and decarbonisation policy analysis in the transport sector. Julie has studied and worked in several countries including Sweden, South Korea, Austria, and Greece.
She has experience in the finance and energy industry with a focus on de-risking renewable energy investments. Prior to joining NewClimate Institute she worked for a think tank on sustainable financing models and policies with a focus on the German building sector. Julie holds an MSc. in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management from the Erasmus Mundus Program MESPOM and a B.B.A. in International Business with a major in Finance and Financial Management from Arcada UAS (Helsinki, Finland) and Kyung Hee University (Seoul, South Korea). Julie joined the NewClimate Institute team in September 2018 and is based in Cologne.
