Gustavo De Vivero works as a climate policy analyst at NewClimate Institute focusing on low carbon development and policy analysis. As an expert in power systems he focuses on policy, market design and technical aspects of power systems as key enabler of the energy transition. His work includes among other the development of an analysis framework around the policy and techno-economic aspects of the power sector transition and the quantitative analysis of GHG emission reduction potential.

Prior to joining NewClimate Institute, Gustavo worked as an energy researcher at KU Leuven (Belgium) on energy systems modelling and the role of storage systems in increasing the penetration of variable renewable. Before that he worked in an energy consulting company (PSR) participating in projects covering technical, economic and regulatory analysis of power systems. He also has experience working in the international organizations such as OLADE and IRENA. Gustavo holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico) and a MSc in Electric Power Systems (Universidad Comillas, Spain) and a MSc in Network Industries and Digital Economy (Université Paris Sud-XI, France). Gustavo joined NewClimate Institute in October 2018 and is based in Cologne office.
