Swithin Lui works on topics across development, tracking climate action, and the environment. He advises and supports national governments on climate planning and processes in multiple regions, focusing on implementing low-carbon policies to simultaneously achieve climate and domestic development objectives, and facilitating stakeholder coalitions on long-term energy transitions. Swithin is a long-standing contributor and country lead for the Climate Action Tracker, where he quantifies countries’ mitigation policies and targets and projects countries’ medium-term GHG emission trajectories. Prior to joining NewClimate Institute, Swithin worked as a researcher collaborating with scientists, organisations, and policymakers across Southeast Asia to influence public policy issues concerning land-use change, ecosystem services and natural resource management. Swithin holds a MSc in Environmental Economics and Climate Change from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a background in the atmospheric and oceanic sciences.
