Sofia Gonzales-Zuñiga focuses on climate policy development and analysis. She has over seven years of experience in climate change policy research, specialising in low carbon plans and strategies in developing countries. Sofia has worked on several projects developing sector specific mitigation pathways, setting up tools to identify links between mitigation ambition and sustainable development and tracking international climate action through the quantitative analysis of GHG emission mitigation targets. She has expertise in both the agriculture and transport sectors. Prior to joining NewClimate Institute, she worked at Libélula, a Peru based thinktank, where she supported a flagship project on national climate mitigation planning (PlanCC) as a Research Specialist, and at the Ministry of Environment of Peru. Sofia holds a B.Sc. in Biology from the National Agrarian University (UNALM, Peru) and an M.Sc. in Global Change Ecology from the University of Bayreuth, Germany.
